In extreme heaves cases, corticosteroids and bronchodilators provide immediate relief of clinical symptoms, but their long-term use is not sustainable. There is overwhelming evidence for the effectiveness of Haygain steamed hay in reducing Inflammatory Airway Disease (IAD) respiratory diseases in horses, in fact no other method tested in the study was found to be as effective.

Long-term management of heaves
